Annual Scientific Symposium
“Childhood Trauma: From Risk to Recovery”
30 November 2025
About the event
The Jamaica Association of Paediatric Surgeons (JAPS) invites you to its 2nd Virtual Scientific Symposium, a dynamic event exploring the theme “Childhood Trauma – From Risk to Recovery.” This year’s programme brings together leading local and international experts to address the pressing issue of paediatric trauma in Jamaica and beyond.
Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and case-based sessions, participants will gain insights into the medical, ethical, and psychosocial dimensions of childhood injuries — from prevention and acute care to rehabilitation and recovery. Topics include paediatric trauma patterns, head injuries, burns, dog bites, fractures in abuse cases, post-traumatic stress, and ethical considerations in treatment.
This symposium offers valuable continuing medical education (CME) opportunities and a platform for healthcare professionals, policymakers, and advocates to collaborate in advancing child health and safety.
